Jenny Cheng, PhD
I received my bachelor of science in Bioengineering with a focus on Biotechnology from UC San Diego in Spring of 2015. During my undergraduate years, I volunteered at the Cardiac Mechanics Research Group where my interest in the field of cardiovascular research deepened and influenced my decision to join the Vascular Tissue Biomechanics lab in Fall of 2015 (despite the huge weather difference). My primary research is focused on determining the role of estrogen signaling specifically through estrogen receptor alpha in regulating mitochondrial respiration and right ventricular contractile function in the presence of pressure overload.
